Shaela Alejandre, MA, is an assessment trainee at Clearwater working under the supervision of Dr. Jocelin Saks. Shaela is a third-year doctoral student in Clinical Psychology at the Wright Institute in Berkeley, and earned her bachelor’s degree from Sonoma State University. Her focus is in neuropsychology, and she is pursuing a career as a clinical neuropsychologist, supporting children and adults with neurological and neurodevelopmental conditions. Shaela has experience providing one-on-one care to individuals with autism and intellectual disability across the lifespan, working in homes and community settings to help build communication, emotional regulation, and daily living skills. She also has psychotherapy experience with adults in a community mental health clinic. Shaela is passionate about clinical assessment as a way to help clients and their families better understand how their brains work in uniquely meaningful ways. She strives to make the assessment process warm, collaborative, and empowering, approaching each case with deep curiosity, a strengths-based lens, and sensitivity to each client’s cultural background and needs. Outside of her clinical work, Shaela enjoys caring for her vegetable garden and spending time with her daughter, husband, and Siberian husky–often over coffee and hot chocolate.
